TIRUMALA, MARCH 5. A criminal case has been booked against a middleman, known in local parlance as `dalali,' here by the police after he cheated a pilgrim, A Kesavulu (33), a native of Adnipalem, Thiruvannamalai district in Tamil Nadu. Kesavulu reached Tirumala, along with his family members, to perform `Thulabharam' of his son. He fell prey to the sweet talk of the `dalali' who convinced him that after the Alipiri bomb attack on the Chief Minister, N.Chandrababu Naidu, the TTD authorities had imposed restrictions and that Thulabharam was not permitted inside the temple as part of security measures. The middleman extracted a huge amount from Kesavulu and took him to a shop in a complex on the pretext of performing the `Thulabharam,' and after the completion of the so-called formalities gave a slip to Kesavulu and vanished. Kesavulu immediately approached the TTD vigilance and security personnel who swung into action and took the shop owner, Mohan Reddy, into custody. The `dalali' is still absconding.
