By Our Staff Correspondent

MANGALORE, MARCH 5. A two-day general body meeting and all-India conference of the All-India Vijaya Bank Employees' Association will be held here from Saturday.

The president of the association, K. Ramakrishna Poonja, told presspersons here on Friday that issues concerning members of the association would be discussed during the meeting. The demands of the association included regularisation of the services of attenders, daily-wage workers and drivers, promotion for sub-staff and part-time sweepers, appointment on compassionate grounds, and introduction of new welfare schemes.

The introduction of voluntary retirement scheme and stoppage of recruitment had affected the growth of banks, he claimed.

Mr. Poonja said the Bharatiya Janata Party leader, D.H. Shankaramurthy, would inaugurate a session.

He said the president of the Nitte Education Trust, N. Vinay Hegde, would inaugurate the conference.

The chairman of the Bharatiya Vidya Bhavan, B.M. Hegde, the former MP, V. Dhananjaya Kumar, and the general manager, K. Jayakar Shetty, would be present, he added.
