Sonia's road show in March third week

JALANDHAR, MARCH 6 . The State Congress chief, H.S. Hanspal, today revealed that the party president, Sonia Gandhi, would visit the state for road shows in the third week of March.

"After great success of her road shows in Haryana and Himachal Pradesh, the Congress president Sonia Gandhi will come to the state for the road shows in the third week of March," Hanspal told PTI over phone adding that exact dates and places for the road shows would be finalised soon.

He further revealed that meeting of the central election committee of the party would be held next week after which candidates for Lok Sabha seats in the state would be announced. "Earlier the meeting was planned for today, but due to celebrations and political of `Hola Mohalla' at Anandpur Sahib, the meeting was postponed till next week," he added.

Regarding the political alliance with the BSP in the state, he said that talks with the former were going on at national level and very soon final decision in this regard would be taken.

Asked whether the central election committee of the party had taken any decision for fielding or not fielding the sitting MLAs in the ensuing parliamentary elections, Mr Hanspal said that any such decision has been taken yet but assured that as far as sitting MPs were concerned, all were in the panel, sent to the party high command.

On the issue of selection of candidates for Rajya Sabha seats, which fell vacant recently, Hanspal said that names of the candidates for Rajya Sabha seats would be announced after the announcement of candidates for Lok Sabha seats.

About his candidature for Rajya Sabha seat, he said that it was up to the party high command to decide. -- PTI
