THIRUVANANTHAPURAM, MARCH 6 . A 30-year-old man and his 33-year-old sister-in-law were found dead in a lodge near Eenchakal in the Vanchiyoor police station limits on Saturday morning. The deceased were identified as Suresh and Suvarna, both residents of Anchaalumoodu in Kollam district. Police suspect Suresh to have committed suicide by cutting his veins after strangling Suvarna to death. An official said that Suresh was also found to have consumed a lethal pesticide. A post-mortem examination would be conducted on the bodies at the Medical College Hospital on Sunday. Police said that Suvarna is the wife of Venugopal, Suresh's brother. Venugopal, who is employed in the Gulf, had recently come home on leave. The couple have a six-year-old child. Suresh and Suvarna were reported missing from their house from Thursday. Their relatives had filed a man-missing complaint at the Anchaalumoodu police station. The duo had hired a car driven by one Thomas to come to Thiruvananthapuram. They checked into the lodge on Friday night after visiting the Attukal temple. The lodge staff informed the police about the incident after they failed to awake the couple on Saturday morning. The lodge premises were full of women making pongala offerings and hence, the police took out the bodies from the room only in the evening after the devotees dispersed. A case of unnatural death has been registered and investigations were on.
