KOLLAM, MARCH. 6. As part of the Rotary International's centenary celebrations, the Rotary Club of Quilon is organising a 450day-long all-India exhibition at the Cantonment Maidan here from March 26. At a press conference here today, the chairman of the exhibition organising committee, T. Abdul Karim Musaliar, and the general convener, K. Shirish, said that the event would comprise several features to make it a memorable one. An amusement park with more than 20 items will be a major attraction of the event. About 30 Government departments and several private sector companies would put up pavilions. There would also be more than 300 consumer stalls. Entertainment on a daily basis has been organised and this would include seven mega shows. There would also be art festival for school and college students. Entry tickets would be priced at Rs.10 each and the show would be open from 3 p.m. on week days and from 10 a.m. on holidays. Mr. Musaliar said that the proceeds from the exhibition is intended to promote a comprehensive garbage disposal system and rain water harvesting system in Kollam. The Electricity Minister, R. Balakrishna Pillai, will inaugurate the construction activities of the exhibition pandal at the Cantonment Maidan on February 8.
