Car recovered

By Our Staff Reporter

NEW DELHI, MARCH 6 .The police have reportedly recovered the Santro car about which the slain Sub-Inspector of the Crime Branch, Satish Kumar Dalal, had been tipped off that it was being used by some criminals to commit robbery in the Capital and Haryana.

During the search operation, the police detained two persons, Joginder and Rajinder, and recovered from them the Santro car and a Maruti Esteem. They were picked up from a place near the spot where Sub-Inspector Satish and his informer, Vijay Swami, were last seen at B-Block in Mangolpuri.

The police are now looking for their accomplice, Vinod, on suspicion of his involvement in the murders. It is learnt the Joginder, Rajinder and Vinod were earlier arrested under the National Security Act in 2000.

Investigations so far have revealed that when Satish and Vijay reached the spot to check how many people were inside the vehicle, the culprits apparently identified them. Before Satish would react, one of the culprits hit him in the head with a blunt object due to which he fell unconscious. The culprits then dumped him in the car and forced Vijay to get inside, following which they chopped off their heads on the way.

While the police are yet to establish whether Satish and Vijay were murdered in Delhi or Haryana, it is clear that they burnt the chopped heads, Satish's mobile phone and their dresses at Tikri Kalan village of Nangloi to erase their identities. They then dumped the headless bodies in Haryana.

Satish, whose father was also in the Delhi police, is survived by his wife, two sons and a daughter. He had joined the police services in 1976 as a constable and got two out-of-turn promotions. In 1998, he had arrested a criminal carrying a reward of Rs 1 lakh, after he was promoted to the rank of Sub-Inspector. It is learnt that his sister is also with the Delhi police as a Sub-Inspector.
