NEW DELHI, MARCH 6. The Delhi University and College Karmacharis' Union has written to the Vice-Chancellor demanding that immediate attention be paid to their long-pending problems including implementation of the Executive Committee resolution regarding laboratory staff, time-bound promotions and restoration of 42-day leave. The Union has warned of an agitation if its demands are not met. A release issued today said the union members would sit on a dharna in front of the Vice-Chancellor's office from March 9 to 12 between 10 a.m. and 5 p.m. and also join in a torchlight procession with the Delhi University Teachers' Association (DUTA) on March 12 evening. All karmacharis of the University and colleges including the security staff, drivers and mess and hostel staff will also participate in a demonstration on March 16 and 17 after marking their attendance at their offices from 10 a.m onwards. Further they added that all working committee members of the union would sit on dharna for a week from March 18 to 25, in case their demands are not looked into. Speaking about the planned dharna, the Delhi University and College Karmacharis' Union president, Ram Singh Rana, said: "In case the Vice-Chancellor continues to ignore our demands we would be compelled to boycott the annual examination commencing from April. And in that case the Vice-Chancellor would be completely responsible for the inconvenience caused.''
