NEW DELHI, MARCH 6. Over a dozen men have been arrested on charges of eve teasing and illegal liquor consignments seized from across the Capital during a drive launched by the Delhi police on the eve of Holi. The North-East Delhi police seized 119 bottles, 174 halves, 168 quarters and 20 litres of liquor from across the district on Friday. In another case, a man named Arvind was arrested for allegedly dealing in illegal liquor. The police recovered 55 cartons containing rum and whisky from his possession. During interrogation, he disclosed that he had procured the consignment from Rajasthan. In yet another case, over 150 liquor bottles, 11 quarters and 19 litres of country-made liquor were seized by the North Delhi police. At least 13 people were arrested in this connection. In a drive against the eve teasers, nine people were arrested by the Maurice Nagar police on Friday. They have been identified as Madan Lal, Sher Singh, Chandan Singh, Mushtak, Pradeep Sharma, Babu Lal, Shrawan, Suresh Pal and Nathu. Earlier, 68 people were arrested from across East Delhi on charges of eve teasing. The police have made elaborate arrangements to prevent any violence during the festival of colours. In the past few days, they held meetings with members of different communities and urged them to maintain harmony in their localities.
