VISAKHAPATNAM, MARCH 6. Several freedom-fighters and senior citizens from the Circar districts on Saturday took a pledge to launch a campaign against the demand for statehood to Telangana. After declaring the formation of Samaikhya Andhra Pradesh Parirakshana Samiti (SAPPC) to take their fight to unite the people against division of the State, its activists garlanded the statue of Potti Sriramulu on the Beach road and took out a rally from there to RTC complex via Siripuram junction. The committee chairman, Tripuraneni Raghava Das, chief convener, Shyamal Rao, and vice-chairman, Kurmacharyulu, told reporters later that they would launch the campaign in all the districts to justify maintenance of status quo. Even when Telangana and Jai Andhra movements gained movement, the then Prime Minister, Indira Gandhi, had vehemently opposed the demand to divide the State, they said.
