Makam Thozhal at Chottanikkara

KOCHI, MARCH 6. Thousands of young women got darshan at the Devi Temple, Chottanikkara, as part of the annual Makam Thozhal function today. The darshan at the temple began early in the morning and continued into the night.

Held for drug pedalling

The Mattancherry Police and activists of the Janakiya Samity, led by its convener, A Jalal, rounded up Sheelas (30) of Chirattapalam, Mattancherry, who was reportedly selling tidigesic ampules at Irumpichimoola, near Puthiyapally, Mattancherry. The police recovered 23 ampules from him.

Foetus found in waste dump

A three-month-old foetus was recovered today from the waste dump of the Thripunithura Municipality. The Tripunithura Police suspect that it was dumped there as part of waste from some hospital.

Arrested

Three persons were held early this morning from Eloor on charges of attempting to dump waste from septic tanks in an abandoned spot near the eastern gate of TCC, adjacent to River Periyar. The three were arrested by a patrol team led by the Eloor SI, Abdul Rahiman.
