HYDERABAD, MARCH. 6. A cleaner, K. Srinivas (32), who was sitting on the side of a moving lorry's cabin, sustained serious injury when a bamboo stick protruding from a truck in the front pierced through his abdomen at Ghatkesar on city outskirts on Saturday. The Ghatkesar police rushed Srinivas to the Gandhi hospital in Secunderabad even as the two-feet-long stick remained embedded in his abdomen as its removal would further cause danger to his life. The victim was operated upon late in the night and kept under observation. The mishap occurred when Srinivas was going from Medchal to Ghatkesar in the lorry along with the driver Venkateswar. The driver tried to overtake a lorry laden with bamboo sticks near Ghatkesar. "One of the bamboo sticks pierced through Srinivas' abdomen while Venkateswar tried to overtake the lorry in the front", Ghatkesar SI, M. Narender Reddy, said. A case was booked against the lorry driver transporting bamboo sticks under section 337 (causing hurt by act endangering life of others) of IPC.
