Another case of `warrants' against VVIPs

SRIGANGANAGAR (RAJASTHAN), MARCH 6. A case of alleged issue of warrants for attachment of the properties of the President, A.P.J. Abdul Kalam, and some other top dignitaries has come to light here.

A Revenue Officer had purportedly issued the warrants against Mr. Kalam, the Vice-President, Bhairon Singh Shekhawat, the Prime Minister, Atal Bihari Vajpayee, the Congress president, Sonia Gandhi, and some others.

However, the Collector, Ram Avtar, today said the documents were forged.

Buta Singh of Bhagsar, had released to the press photocopies of such "warrants" issued for not paying government dues, and alleged that one could get the property attachment warrants against anybody by paying a bribe.

The Tahsildar (Revenue Officer) had filed a case with the Kotwali Police in Sriganganagar against Mr. Singh for preparing "forged" official documents.

The documents neither carried any date nor official seals. The Nayab Tahsildar, whose signature was "forged" on the document, was transferred three months back, the Collector added. — PTI
