SHIMOGA, MARCH 7. The District Congress Committee (DCC) at its executive committee meeting here on Saturday warned of stringent action against office-bearers of the party at various levels if they were found to have to joined hands with the former Chief Minister, S. Bangarappa, who resigned from the Congress and joined the BJP recently. The meeting, which was presided over by the Minister for Health and Family Welfare and district in-charge, Kagodu Thimmappa, also decided to formulate a strategy to defeat Mr. Bangarappa in the Lok Sabha elections. Some partymen took objection to the open identification of some of the party leaders with Mr. Bangarappa and demanded that Bangarappa loyalists be relieved of the posts and then expelled from the party. They wanted loyal party workers to be given their posts. The Minister said he would tour the district to enthuse the workers. The DCC President and MLC, Mir Azeez Ahmed, who is identified as a follower of Mr. Bangarappa, reiterated that he would not leave the party.
