JAMMU, MARCH 7. People living on both sides of the Line of Control in Ladakh speak the Bodhi language, and All India Radio programmes in the language are a hit among people across LoC as well. The Director, All India Radio (Leh), Angmo Shunoo, said, "We receive hundreds of letters from Northern areas which are now under Pakistan occupation. People there enquire about their counterparts here." In the 1948 ceasefire between the two countries, besides Jammu and Kashmir provinces, the Ladakh region then known as the Frontier province was bifurcated. The Frontier province included Skardu and Gilgit agency which are now coming under Northern areas. Recently, the State Government in a reply to a question by P. Namgyal in the Legislative Council said, "At present, 32 villages of Kargil district of Ladakh are under Pakistan occupation." The Chairman of the Kargil Hill Development Council, Qamar Ali Akhnoon, has sent a proposal to the Prime Minister, Atal Bihari Vajpayee, calling for opening up of the Kargil-Baltistan road link via Skardu.
