HYDERABAD, MARCH 7. With a view to bringing about awareness on music and dance among all age groups, particularly students, during the summer vacation, the Department of Culture in association with the Education Department will organise a 40-day cultural appreciation course - `kala parichayam' -- all over the State from April 30 to June 10. Experts from various cultural, voluntary and Government bodies will impart training adopting a village or a city having a high school and college as the centre for training. A nominal tuition fee of Rs. 50 will be collected from each student. Addressing a press conference on Sunday, Arja Srikanth, Director, Department of Culture, said the need for the course was felt seeing the good response for the `Go to village' programme wherein at least two villages in each district were adopted for training people in music and dance. This programme was being organised by staff and students of 12 music and dance colleges in the State. `Kala parichayam' classes would be conducted from 7 a.m to 10 a.m for students and another session for others would follow. No age limit was prescribed. So far, about 200 schools and colleges, 46 in the city, had been identified as centres for the summer training programme. A certificate would be given to those who complete the training. Interested persons, including trainers, may contact Mr. Srikanth on the phone number 98480 11453.
