Naxals kill TDP leader

By Our Staff Reporter

NALGONDA, MARCH 7. An action team of the People's War today shot dead a Telugu Desam Party leader, Yenugu Malla Reddy (45), on the outskirts of Baswapuram in Bhongir mandal, suspecting him to be a police informer.

According to the police, three naxals, reportedly action team members of the Aliar dalam — Golanukonda Chandraiah alias Venkanna, Guvvala Mahesh and Machender — detained Malla Reddy in his fields at 6 a.m. After some time they fired at him, killing him on the spot. Malla Reddy was the former president of the village unit of the TDP and present president of the Raithu Mithra Sangham.

Minutes before shooting him, the naxalites asked Malla Reddy's son, Madhava Reddy to bring his uncle, Narasimha Reddy, to the spot. The victim's son rushed to the village and alerted his relatives and villagers. However, by the time they reached the spot, the naxals had killed Malla Reddy.

Malla Reddy is survived by his wife, two sons and two daughters. Top police officials visited the village. Police launched a combing operation to nab the trio.
