Touchtel reaches milestone

CHENNAI: Touchtel, country's first private fixed-line telecom service provider from Bharti, has crossed the six lakh customers mark. It had four lakh customers in May 2003 and this has increased by 50 per cent taking the total base to six lakhs across the six States such as Delhi, Haryana, M.P., Chattisgarh, Tamil Nadu and Karnataka. The Touchtel's DSL broadband Internet service has also grown six-fold in the same period with customers increasingly preferring a combination offering of telephone with a DSL connection, According to Badri Agarwal, President, Bharti Infotel Ltd.
