Rally to mark Women's Day

CHITTOOR, MARCH 8. The International Women's Day was celebrated at several places in Chittoor town on Monday.

The women and children's welfare department organised a women's rally on the main streets of Chittoor. They shouted slogans demanding implementation of more welfare measures for women and urged reservation for women in the Lok Sabha and State Assemblies.

At II Town police station here the police held a mahila sadassu. The Urban CI, Vannur Saheb, spoke on the occasion. He said some women in a fit of emotion commit suicide, which was not a solution to their trouble. Women were urged to approach the mahila police station in case of problems. The Telugu Desam Party Chittoor Assembly constituency celebrated Women's Day at the C.M. Kalyana Mandapam.
