Arrangements complete for higher secondary exams

THIRUVANANTHAPURAM, MARCH. 8. The arrangements for the Higher Secondary examination, being held from March 10 to 25, have been completed, according to a press note quoting the Secretary, Board of Higher Secondary Examination, N. Murugan.

There are a total of 1,174 centres for the examination in the State. Apart from 1,146 higher secondary schools, 28 high schools have been selected as examination centres. Out of the centres, 416 are government higher secondary schools, 507 are aided higher secondary schools, 10 are technical higher secondary schools and 213 unaided higher secondary schools. There are four centres in Mahe, three in Lakshadweep and 11 in the Gulf region.

A total of 1,11,470 students are appearing for the exams this year, out of which 1,40,815 are boys and the rest girls. Compared to last year, the number of students who have registered for the examination has gone up by 37,788. The maximum number of students - 31,926 - have registered in Ernakulam district, while Malappuram comes second with 37,733.

Vigilance squads have been deployed in all the districts in order to check examination malpractices. SThe tabulation work would start on April 5 and the results would be announced on May 16.

Sub-centres sanctioned

In view of the excessive increase in the number of private candidates as well as that of the Open School students, sub-centres have been sanctioned for some of the main centres where the Higher Secondary Certificate examinations are to be conducted from March 10. Details are available from the main centre where the candidate had registered for the examination, according to an official release.

The Director of Vocational Higher Secondary Education has said that the first year VHSC examinations would be held from March 22 to 27. The timing is from 1-30 p.m. to 4-30 p.m. The detailed timetable is available at the school concerned and also in the regional offices of the VHSE directorate.
