Women felicitated

VIJAYAWADA, MARCH 8. The Telugu Desam Party (TDP), Vijayawada East unit, felicitated several women from different walks of life for their contribution to society on the eve of the International Women's Day here on Monday.

Among those felicitated were veteran the freedom fighter, S. Seetharamamma, educationist, S. Regina, senior advocate, B. Gayathri, and the social worker, B. Y. Kumari. Nine girl students from various city schools were also given away prizes for winning elocution competitions in different categories.

At the Mahila Sadassu organised on the occasion, the party's convener and former legislator, A. Jaya Prakash, spoke about the various steps initiated by the TDP government for the welfare of women.

The Mayor, P. Anuradha, the TDP urban division convener, K.V.P. Basaveswara Rao, and several others were present.
