BANGALORE, MARCH 8. A woman threw chilly powder at an elderly woman and robbed her of a gold chain worth Rs. 25,000 in Chandra Layout Police Station limits on Sunday. The police said a woman came to the house of Parijathamma (60) at Vinayakanagar in Nayandahalli when she was alone. The stranger told Parijathamma that she had rented a house in the neighbourhood and invited her for a "puja" and robbed her on the way.
Student robbed: Two persons posing as policemen robbed a college student of Rs. 1,500 in cash and a gold ring in Viveknagar Police Station limits on Monday. The police said that around 10.30 a.m., Sumatha Thakur, a student of Jyothi Nivas College, and her friend were walking on the ring road. Two persons accosted them and introduced themselves as policemen. They told Ms. Thakur that they want to search her bag. They took the money from the bag and also relieved her of a gold ring, the police said. Professor arrested: Selvamuni (45), an autorickshaw driver, died on the spot because of head injury after Ramachandra, a professor of engineering at a private college, allegedly pushed him on Sunday night. The police said Selvamuni was dumping garbage into a drain in front of Prof. Ramachandra's house in SBI Colony around 8 p.m. The professor objected to it and a verbal duel took place. He allegedly pushed Selvamuni, whose head dashed against the iron gate of the former's house. Selvamuni suffered head injuries, the police said. The Yeshwanthapur police have arrested Prof. Ramachandra.
