`Maths paper easy'

By Our Staff Reporter

NEW DELHI, MARCH 9. It may not have left everyone happy at the end of the three-hour ordeal, but most students described the Mathematics paper of the Central Board of Secondary Education-conducted Class X Board examinations as an easy but slightly lengthy one.

Except for some confusion in a six-mark question of Paper I on income tax, most schools described the paper as easy. "Most of the boys were happy with the paper. Some of them did mention that they did not get enough time to revise as some of the sums were long, but otherwise most of them seem to have done well,'' said R. Pereira, the Mathematics teacher at St. Columba's School.

The confusion over the question on income tax seems to have been on whether on not the surcharge had to be calculated. But that, teachers said, was more or less because some of the students had not read the question properly. "It was a good paper and many of our students even felt that they might score 100 per cent. There was no problem as far as our students were concerned,'' said the Principal of Delhi Public School, R.K. Puram, S. Chona.
