KOZHIKODE, MARCH 10. The State secretary of the Indian Vegetarian Congress, A.V. Krishnan Moossad, will contest the Lok Sabha elections from Kozhikode constituency with a view to propounding his much-professed slogan of `vegetarianism'. Mr. Moossad had earlier launched his campaign in Thiruvananthapuram Lok Sabha constituency but chose to contest from Kozhikode later. His slogan: `A vegetarian Kerala in 10 years, a non-meat-eating India in 10 years.' Urging the electorate to boycott all political parties, the 69-year-old Moossad said he would be launching a novel campaign in Kozhikode. In his campaign, he would seek to expose political parties, the `India shining' campaign and the culture of violence. He would seek people's mandate single-handedly, travelling by foot and using a portable mike. He would not indulge in door-to-door campaigning, nor would he use posters and graffiti to drive home his message. His election budget comes to a mere Rs.20,000 - inclusive of the deposit amount. He alleged that his Left Democratic Front (LDF) opponent, M.P. Veerendrakumar, had driven hundreds of employees to poverty by causing the closure of the Coca-Cola plant at Plachimada. Mr. Moossad said his victory would mean that there would be a proponent of vegetarianism in the 14th Lok Sabha.
