Jewels, cash stolen from Mylapore house

CHENNAI, MARCH 10. Jewels, a digital camera and some cash were burgled from a marine engineer's flat on Adams Road at Mylapore yesterday.

The police said the burglary came to light when the engineer's wife returned from her office last evening.

The door of the flat, in a two-storey complex, was broken open and about 30 sovereigns of jewels, Rs. 3,000 in cash and the digital camera were burgled. The engineer was out of station and his wife had gone to her office at Ashok Nagar.

Youth buried alive

A youth was buried alive while deepening a well in a house near Tiruvanmiyur today.

The police identified the victim as Sanjay (20) of Tiruvannamalai district.

He was working with three other men when mud caved inside the well, trapping Sanjay.
