By Our Staff Reporter

BANGALORE, MARCH 10. A two-day meet on lieshmaniasis, a parasitic disease, was inaugurated by C.P. Thakur, Union Minister for Small-scale Industries and Development of North-Eastern Regions, at the Indian Institute of Science here on Wednesday. Dr. Thakur is an expert on kala azar, a form of lieshmaniasis, prevalent in India.

Every year, such a meet, called the Sir Dorabji Tata Symposium, is held "around March 11 to coincide with the anniversary of the Dorabji Tata Trust," a release from the trust said. Wednesday's meet was the fifth in the series. Earlier symposia have covered malaria, vaccine technology, diarrhoeal diseases, and respiratory diseases.
