Rajasekhara Murthy to campaign for BJP

BANGALORE, MARCH 11. The Union Minister for Law and Company Affairs, Arun Jaitley, who is supervising the Bharatiya Janata Party's election campaign in the State, today clarified that the BJP leader, M. Rajasekhara Murthy, continued to be a member of the party and that he would be campaigning for the party in the elections.

Mr. Jaitley, accompanied by senior BJP leaders of the Sate unit of the party, met Mr. Murthy this morning. Mr. Jaitley said they had discussions on the BJP's election strategy. There have been reports for some time that Mr. Murthy is planning to resign from the BJP and join the Janata Dal (Secular).

The President of the State unit of the BJP, H.N. Ananth Kumar, said that Mr. Murthy was a senior leader of the party and his role in the election campaign was important for it.
