CHITRADURGA, MARCH 11. The Lokayukta police on Wednesday raided the district offices of the Backward Classes and Minority Development Corporation here and reportedly detected several irregularities. According to sources, the Lokayukta detected irregularities in the identification of beneficiaries and disbursement of financial aid to them under various schemes, and records that had not been updated. Sources said it was found that four unauthorised persons had been found working on the premises. "We do not know under which head the four were paid salary. It seems they were appointed by the staff of the corporation in Chitradurga to carry out their work. Each of them was paid Rs. 1,000 a month. For the past one year no one has signed the cash book," a senior official said. No entry has been made in the cashbook since October 2003. The corporation is said to have trained 10 people in four-wheeler driving, for which proper records were not maintained," said Chandra Nayak, Superintendent of Police, Lokayukta. "We have seized some important records. After a detailed study, we can ascertain the amount involved in the irregularity," he said.
