BC leaders seek Vice-Chancellor's recall

VISAKHAPATNAM, MARCH 11. The Andhra Pradesh Backward Classes Sangham, BC corporators, the Marxist Communist Party of India and the Centre for Indian Trade Unions on Thursday charged the Vice-Chancellor of Andhra University, Y.C. Simhadri, with behaving in a dictatorial manner, and asked the Government to recall him.

The BC Sangham general secretary, Vegi Babu Rao, the corporators -- B. Neelakantham, Prakruti Chinna Rao, Tynala Vijaya Kumar, senior MCPI leader, S. Gangadhara Reddy, the vice-president of the Toorpukaapu Welfare Association, P. Appa Rao, and the CITU leader, A. Appa Rao, who was recently dismissed from AU, urged the Government to recall Prof. Simhadri and reinstate the former Head of the Department of Hindi, S. Surappadu, other employees who were removed from service.

Dr. Surappadu said a day's fast would be observed in front of the Registrar's Office on Friday. The leaders said the BC associations would unitedly fight against the V-C and the State Government till they achieved their demands.
