Traffic curbs today

VIJAYAWADA, MARCH 11. Diversion of traffic and restriction of vehicular movement on several arterial roads in the city will be in force in the city on Friday till the end of the public meeting to be addressed by the All-India Congress Committee president, Sonia Gandhi.

According to the Assistant Commissioner of Police (Traffic), Sk. Basheer, cars of VIPs will be allowed up to the Lotus Land meeting place entrance through Kedareswarapet main road to the earmarked VIP car parking area.

Cars, jeeps and two-wheelers, including those of the police and media personnel, coming to the meeting place will be allowed up to the Lotus Land parking lot. Buses and lorries coming from Hyderabad side will be diverted at Gollapudi bypass road towards the vacant lands of VGTM-UDA at Bhavanipuram, Housing Board road and the road opposite Atkinson school for parking. Buses and lorries coming for meeting from Guntur side will be diverted at Netaji Bridge on NH-5 towards veterinary hospital and vehicles would be allowed for parking at RTA junction, Indira Gandhi Municipal Corporation Stadium, Nalanda Gate, PWD Grounds and Krishna Lanka Feeder road. Vehicles coming from Machilipatnam side will be diverted to the left at Benz Circle. These vehicles would also have to take the same route as those coming from Guntur at Netaji Bridge on NH-5. Buses and lorries coming from Nuzivid side will be diverted at Brahmamgari temple to Singh Nagar Municipal Stadium and to the open fields adjacent to Paipula road leading to Ambapuram parking lot.

Vehicles coming from Eluru side will be diverted at Ramavarappadu Ring towards Chuttugunta, Kothavanthena, Bose Statue to GVR Music College, Gymkhana Grounds and S.N. Puram Railway Grounds parking lots.

Normal traffic, including city/route buses, from Nuzivid will be diverted at Budameru Bridge towards S.N. Puram Colony Gate to Samba Murthy Road. Normal traffic, including city/route buses, going towards Nuzivid will be diverted at Sanjeeva Reddy Statue to G.S. Raju road-Government Press to Singh Nagar flyover. All those coming by foot from various parking places will have to enter the meeting place from the opening made on the railway track side, according Mr. Sk. Bashir.
