NEW DELHI, MARCH 11. The director of a computer-training institute, who allegedly cheated people of crores of rupees on the pretext of getting them good jobs, has been arrested in Gurgaon near here by the Economic Offences Wing (EOW) of the Delhi Police Crime Branch. Three other accused in the case have already been arrested. According to the police, the institute named Skyweb India Limited had in 2001 got several advertisements published in leading national dailies promising lucrative jobs after completion of its six-months computer training programme. Since the offer was very attractive, hundreds of people, several of whom were already employed, joined the institute. The institute charged Rs. 48,000 per candidate, gathering crores of rupees. However, after only a month, the directors of the institute vanished from the scene. Their offices were found locked. The victims lodged a case at Defence Colony police station. Subsequently, the police arrested three of the accused, Alok Jain, Vivek Jain and Anand Ramchandran, but Anand Sundaram kept evading arrest. He also applied for an anticipatory bail, but was refused the same by the court. Acting on a tip-off that he was in DLF Gurgaon, an EOW team mounted a raid and arrested him on Wednesday.
