ANANTAPUR, MARCH 12. The district units of Communist Party of India and the Communist Party of India (Marxist) and the Congress on Friday reacted sharply to the reported remark of the Union Minister of State for Urban Development and BJP leader, Bandaru Dattatreya, that the farmers in the State were committing suicide due to health problems and indigestion. The CPI leaders burnt an effigy of Mr. Dattatreya at the Tower Clock circle and demanded an immediate apology from Mr. Dattatreya to the farming community of the State. The CPI(M) and Congress, in their separate protest programmes, demanded dismissal of the Minister. .
