COIMBATORE, MARCH 12. The Deputy Prime Minister, L.K. Advani, today expressed confidence that the relations between the All-India Anna Dravida Munnetra Kazhagam (AIADMK) and the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) would not go the way they did in 1998-99. "I am sure everyone has learnt from earlier experience," Mr. Advani said, when he was reminded of the BJP's ties with AIADMK turning sour earlier. At a public meeting yesterday, Mr. Advani said the relations between the two parties were excellent. Talking to presspersons here, he said he was grateful to the Chief Minister, Jayalalithaa, for extending support to fight terrorism. The Lok Sabha constituencies Mr. Advani covered are Coimbatore, Nilgiris, Gobichettipalayam, Tiruchengode, Salem, Dharmapuri and Krishnagiri. Our Erode Staff Reporter reports: Tight security arrangements were in place during Mr. Advani's yatra in Erode district. Access was restricted to his bus. On behalf of the AIADMK, the Hindu Religious and Charitable Endowments Minister, P.C. Ramasamy, presented a `Ponnadai' to him. The BJP leader greeted the AIADMK candidates, N.R. Govindarajar (Gobichettipalayam) and Edapady K. Palanisamy (Tiruchengodu), and introduced them to the public.
