KANNUR, MARCH 13. The two-day `Technofest - 2004', the first State-level youth festival of engineering students in the State organised by the All Kerala Engineering Students' Association, got under way on the Government Engineering College, Kannur (GCE-K) campus at Mangattuparamba today. The Calicut University Institute of Engineering and Technology (CUIET), Kozhikode, has bagged 35 points followed by the GCE-K with 28 points and the AWH Engineering College (AWHEC), Kozhikode, with 10 points, on the first day the festival. The fete would conclude on March 14. The festival had been formally inaugurated jointly by M.V. Govindan, MLA, the Thayambaka artiste, Mattannur Shankarankutty, and the filmmaker V.N. Vinu, yesterday evening. Nearly 800 students from 20-odd engineering colleges in the State were participating in the festival. First and second prize winners in various items in that order are as follows: Light music: Athira Ravi (GCE-K) and K.M. Deepak (Vidya Engineering College, Thrissur). Classical dance: Litsa Mohanraj and party (CUIET). Jugalbandi: Prajeesh and party (AWHEC) and Vipinraj and party (CUIET). Cartoon drawing: C. Vimal (CUIET) and Jismon Thomas (GCE-K). Mime: G.D. Dhanya and party (GCE-K) and Aneesh Nirmal and party (CUIET). Debate: CUIET and the School of Engineering, Cochin University of Science and Technology.
