Yatra aimed at dividing people: VS

By Our Staff Reporter

PALAKKAD, MARCH 13. The Leader of the Opposition, V.S. Achuthanandan, has alleged that the Deputy Prime Minister and BJP leader, L.K. Advani's `Bharat Uday Yatra' is aimed at "dividing the people" in the country.

Inaugurating a Palakkad Lok Sabha Mandalam convention of the Left Democratic Front (LDF) candidate, N.N. Krishnadas, here today, Mr. Achuthanandan said that the BJP leader had started his Yatra because the party was finding it difficult to retain the strength it had in the dissolved Lok Sabha.

He said that only those who cornered prime public sector companies in the name of disinvestment would `shine in India' under the BJP rule. The LDF convention was presided over by the CPI(M) State secretariat member, T. Sivadasa Menon. It was addressed by the CPI leader, K.E. Ismail, the Janata Dal leaders, K. Krishnankutty and George Varghese.

The convention was also addressed by the Congress(S) leader, V.C. Kabeer, MLA, the RSP leader, Kovur Kunjumon, MLA, among others.

Earlier in the morning, the Leader of the Opposition inaugurated a convention of the LDF Ottapalam Lok Sabha candidate, S. Ajaykumar.
