KOCHI, MARCH 13. The Union of Anglo-Indian Associations will stage a dharna in front of the Kanayanur taluk office on March 15, demanding special recruitment for the community members on the basis of the Narendran Commission recommendations. Joy Simenthy, convener of the union, said that the Commission had reported that Anglo-Indians and Latin Catholics were being denied appointments in the Government sector. This loss had to be made good through special recruitment without delay, he said. Mr. Simenthy said that the Government should take steps to upgrade Anglo-Indian schools and to ensure proportionate reservation for the community in education institutions. He alleged that the Anglo-Indian schools under the Central Board of Anglo-Indian Education were being neglected by the Government.
