DINDIGUL, MARCH 13. The Department of Health Services today warned against an outbreak of chicken pox and measles in some pockets of the district. The Collector, P. Senthil Kumar, said in a release here that chicken pox was spread through a virus. Boils on chest, stomach and back of the body were the symptoms. Sometimes, patients would have body pain and mild fever. The virus of chicken pox might spread through air. Children below 10 years of age were vulnerable to the disease. Separating patients from others was the only way to prevent the spread of the disease. Measles would affect children aged below five years. Rashes on the body, fever, redness in the eyes, running nose are some of the symptoms of the disease. Vaccines for measles were available in primary health centres and sub-centres. Vaccines should be administered to children aged below five years. Affected persons may contact the nearest primary health centre.
