Meet on manufacturing engineering

UDUPI, MARCH 13. The Department of Mechanical and Industrial Production Engineering of the Manipal Institute of Technology will organise a national conference on "Development and challenges in manufacturing engineering'' at Manipal from March 18 to 20.

B.S. Prabhu, Director of the institute, told presspersons here on Saturday that 124 research papers would be presented during the conference to be attended by 250 delegates. There would be participation from Defence Research and Development Organisation, Defence Research and Development Laboratory, National Aerospace Laboratories, and so on. N. Venkataramani, Vice-President (Operations), Mangalore Refineries and Petrochemicals Ltd., would inaugurate the conference. B.S. Bharadwaj, General Manager (R&D) of Bharat Earth Movers Ltd. will deliver the keynote address.

Dr. Prabhu said a seminar on "Scope and development of industries in coastal Karnataka'' would be held on the second day of the conference. An industrial exhibition would be held during the conference.
