Temperature

MADURAI, MARCH 13 . The city today registered a maximum temperature of 36.8 degree Celsius and a minimum of 24 degree Celsius.

Water level

The level in the Periyar dam stood at 108.6 feet with an inflow and discharge of 108 cusecs. The level in the Vaigai dam was 28.18 feet with a discharge of 30 cusecs. The combined Periyar credit was 941 mcft.

Woman robbed

An unidentified youth robbed a woman of a four-sovereign chain, after spraying chilli powder on her at Tirumangalam today.

The police said P. Satya (23) was cooking at her residence in Chinnakadai Street, when the culprit stealthily entered the house and snatched the jewel.

Cut-off date

The Institute of Company Secretaries of India has announced that the cut- off date for admission to the Company Secretaryship Foundation Course is March 31. Those seeking registration before the date will be eligible to appear for the examinations to be held in December this year. Exam results

The results of the following non-semester examinations of the Directorate of Distance Education, Madurai Kamaraj University, held in December 2003, have been published at the University Buildings, Palkalainagar: B.A. (all subjects), B.Sc. (all subjects), B.C.A., B.B.A., B. Com., B. Ed., M.Ed., B. L. I. Sc., M. L. I. Sc.

The hall tickets for the U.G. (semester) and P.G. (semester) examinations, April 2004, can be obtained from the colleges, according to the Controller of Examinations, MKU.

Elected

M. D. Vel, Managing Director, Indian Foods, Madurai, has been elected chairman of the Confederation of Indian Industry (CII) Madurai Zone, for 2004-05. T. Johnson, Managing Director, St. John Freight Systems, Tuticorin, will be the Vice-Chairman, according to a CII release.

Blood donation

Over 50 employees of the TVS and Sons donated blood today, as part of the Founder's Day celebrations. R. Kannan, vice-president, TVS and Sons, inaugurated the camp. The 127th birth anniversary of T.V. Sundaram Iyengar, founder of the TVS group of industries, falls on March 22.

Inspection

A team of the Tamil Nadu Electricity Board engineers, led by K. Annamalai, Superintending Engineer (in charge), inspected 1,057 power connections under the Sellur section on Wednesday, and initiated action against the violators.

Awareness campaign

The Anti Corruption Movement organised an awareness campaign for the National Service Scheme students of the Yadava College at Y. Narasingam on Wednesday.

Around 200 students, besides villagers, participated in the campaign.
