This Day That Age
Srimathi Vijayalakshmi Pandit, President of the United Nations General Assembly, told pressmen in Madras on March 14 that she hoped to tour South India some time later in the year. Accompanied by her two daughters, Mrs. Nayantara Sahgal and Mrs. Chandralekha Mehta, Srimati Vijayalakshmi Pandit, who is on her way to Colombo, was, on arrival at the Meenambakkam Airport, received by Mr. Sri Prakasa, Governor of Madras, and a large gathering of officials and non-officials including several ladies. Mrs. Clubwala Jadhav garlanded her on behalf of the Guild of Service and Srimathi Sarojini Varadappan, on behalf of the All-India Women's Conference.
