ANANTAPUR, MARCH. 14. Two boys drowned accidentally in the Tungabhadra (HLC) canal on the outskirts of the two yesterday evening. The bodies were fished out today. According to the police, Ramanjaneyulu (9) and Rahul (8) of Khajanagar planned to go for swimming in the canal, though they did not know swimming, yesterday morning. Ramanjaneyulu's mother did not permit them when asked. Both children, left home in the afternoon when their mothers were having a nap. When a woman warned them against jumping into the canal they went little further and jumped into the water. As they did not know swimming and as the flow of water was high the two drowned immediately. Water was released to the canal from Mid Pennar reservoir for drinking water needs of Anantapur. The families of the two children searched from them yesterday night but in vain. Their bodies were fished out today.
