HYDERABAD, MARCH 14. A businessman, Naresh (22), and a married woman, Veena (21), who reportedly fell in love in their teens and plunged into depression after the latter was married to another person, jumped to death from the 18th floor of Babu Khan Estate here at Bashir Bagh crossroads on Sunday evening. Both the victims belonged to Nalgonda district. Two separate suicide notes, purportedly written by the victims, suggested that they were resorting to the extreme step due to failure in love affair. The victims, in another press note addressed to the Hyderabad police, stated that there were no rifts between their respective families and nobody was responsible for their death. It was a shocking experience for the complex maintenance supervisor, Javed, and the watchman, Mansoor Ali, who were engrossed in a chat while sitting downstairs of the first gate. "Even as we heard cries, the two persons fell a few feet away from us. While the woman died on the spot, the man writhed in pain for a minute and died," they said. The victims drove to the complex in a van, which was found parked on the road beside the exit gate. "Nobody seems to have noticed while the victims went up the 18th floor. They fell down around 5.10 p.m. We're registering a case of suspicious death," the Saifabad Inspector, S. Chaturvedi, told reporters. From the 18th floor, the victims first fell on an advertising hoarding fixed to an iron railing, which was nearly 20 feet from the ground. They broke their legs and heads after hitting a parked scooter in the corridor and died on the spot. The hoarding came off the railing. Minutes before jumping from the building, Naresh wanted to talk to his Intermediate classmate, Jnaneshwar, who was residing in Dilsukhnagar. As Jnaneshwar did not have a contact number, Naresh called up on the mobile of Jnaneshwar's friend, Satish. "He said he had decided to commit suicide and wanted this to be informed to Jnaneshwar," Satish said. "We tried in vain to call back, but Naresh switched off his mobile," Jnaneshwar said. By the time Jnaneshwar and others reached the complex, Naresh and Veena were found dead.
