Letters to the Editor
Sir, This refers to Sonia Gandhi's interview (March 14). The Sangh Parivar zealots would have lost a valuable spoke in their propaganda wheel if Ms. Gandhi had indeed become the Prime Minister in 1991. As the post-Rajiv Gandhi assassination wave was strong, even her foreign origin might not have become an issue then. Bidyut Kumar Chatterjee, Faridabad * * * Sir, Ms. Gandhi needs to be reminded that the Congress did not get a majority in 1991 and that the allies would not have supported her for the Premiership. Forget allies, even her own party leaders would have scuttled such ambitions. As long as she displays such an attitude and takes things for granted, there is no chance for her to occupy the top position. K.P. Achuthan, Gurgaon, Haryana
