Letters to the Editor
Sir, Rajiv Gandhi's assassination is undoubtedly the gravest mistake of the LTTE (March 13). But it is the planned elimination of prominent persons of other Tamil organisations and leaders of Sri Lanka that has led to the LTTE's present state. After the 9/11 attack and the global war on terror, does the world need a `Col.' Karuna to say that the LTTE Supremo, V. Prabakaran, has mellowed and will no longer resort to extremist activities? S. Raghavan, New Delhi * * * Sir, In the press conference at Killinochchi in 2002, Prabakaran said the assassination of Rajiv Gandhi was "a tragic accident." Now, `Col.' Karuna says the assassination was "the gravest mistake" of the intelligence wing. Do we need further proof of the fact that the LTTE is a Pol Potist organisation? R. Venkatesan Iyengar, Gulbarga, Karnataka
