DINDIGUL, MARCH 14. Women members of self-help groups urged the State and Central Governments to constitute a legal forum for extensive implementation of micro-credit programmes, at an SHGs conference held here today. The speakers, thanking financial institutions for extending loans to SHGs, appealed to bankers to reduce the interest rate for bulk lending and give top priority to micro-credit programmes as they were useful for women to create a value based, poverty free, productive, prosperous, human and sustainable society. Thousands of SHG members took part in a mega rally, which started from the Spensor's compound near the central bus stand and reached the Dindigul Municipal School, venue of the conference, after passing through prime roads.
