Zimbabwe wins series

HARARE, MARCH 14. Zimbabwe beat Bangladesh by three wickets on Sunday at the Harare Sports Club in the fifth of five one-day internationals to win the series 2-1.

The first two matches were rained out.

Bangladesh's top bowler sent home

Bangladeshi cricket officials sent home star bowler Mohammad Rafique on ``disciplinary grounds'' ahead of today's final match of the one-day international series against Zimbabwe at Harare, the Bangladesh Cricket Board said.

The team management took the decision after ``a breach of the code of conduct,'' said a BCB statement issued here today. It did not say what charges Rafique faced.

``The BCB is unable to provide details at this juncture as the matter will be the subject of a disciplinary committee hearing,'' the statement said.

The disciplinary hearing will be held after the Bangladesh team returns home next week.

Rafique, a left hand spinner who is considered Bangladesh's most successful bowler, took three wickets in the third and fourth one-day games against Zimbabwe, including 2-33 in the third match which Bangladesh won by eight runs on Wednesday.

Rafique, 33, is Bangladesh's most prolific wicket-taker, with a 29.35 Test average. He has taken 42 Test wickets since Bangladesh's maiden Test against India in November 2000. His career best six for 77 came against South Africa in May 2003 in Dhaka.

His one-day average is 46.76, and he has claimed 46 wickets since debuting in international cricket in 1994.
