Partly cloudy

CHENNAI, MARCH 14. The sky will be partly cloudy on Monday. The maximum temperature will be around 33 degree Celsius.

On Sunday, Nungambakkam and Meenambakkam recorded a maximum temperature of 32.6 and 33.6 degree Celsius and a minimum of 22.9 and 22.8 degree Celsius. The humidity recorded was 60 and 61 per cent respectively.

Power cut

Power supply will be suspended on March 16 between 9 a.m. and 5 p.m. for maintenance work in parts of Esplanade, Perungudi, Pudupet, Kilpauk, Sowcarpet West, Korattur, Seven Wells, West Mambalam, Mandaveli, T.Nagar, Nanganallur and Sowcarpet East.

Helpline

A helpline (25381331) to provide information to voters about their electoral part and serial numbers and place of polling has been established at the district election computer centre at Park Town. The helpline can be accessed on working days between 10 a.m. and 5-45 p.m., according to a press release.

Health camp

Around 200 residents of Serappanencheri, near Padappai, attended a health camp organised by the Hindu Medical Mission at the Panchayat Union Middle School in the village and six of them were selected for a free eye surgery.

More than 400 students of the D. G. Vaishnav college received their degrees at a convocation last week. R. Natarajan, chairman, All India Council for Technical Education, was the chief guest

Founder's Day

The Founder's Day of the Madras Sanskrit College and the Annual Day of the Savitri Ammal Oriental Higher Secondary School were celebrated last week.

NSS camp

Over 60 students of St. Joseph's College of Engineering. Jeppiar Nagar, attended a 10-day National Service Scheme camp at Tiruvenkaranai. The students cleaned the premises of the Pattabirama temple and Village Panchayat Primary school.

Anniversary

The 29th anniversary of the Purandara Dasar Aradhana Mahotsava Sabha in West Mambalam was celebrated last week. Songs of Purandara Dasar were rendered on the occasion.

Meet

Meston College of Education, Royapettah, organised a State-level seminar on `researching education' on Friday. More than 30 lecturers from various colleges of education in the State took part.
