Mainly clear sky

Forecast: Mainly clear sky. Maximum temperature would be around 37 degrees Celsius. At Waltair, the maximum temperature was 32 deg. C and the minimum was 21.8 deg. C respectively on Sunday. Humidity at 8.30 a.m. was 61 per cent and at 5.30 p.m. it was 71 per cent. At Airport, the maximum and minimum temperatures were 37.6 deg. C and 20.8 deg. C respectively.

Medical camp

A free medical camp for the residents of Kothavadaveedhi and Reddi Kancharapalem in the city was organised here on Sunday by the Andhra Pradesh Union of Working Journalists and Sriramanjaneya Yuvajana Seva Sangham with the help of Venkataramana and Narayanamma Charitable Trust. A medical team examined nearly 800 people and medicines were distributed free of cost.

Pension adalat

A pension adalat is being held in the city for ex-service on March 25 and 26. Giving this information to members of Visakhapatnam District Ex-Service League at its meeting here on Saturday, the Vice-Chairman of Zilla Sainik Welfare Board, P. R. Rao, said pending pension cases would be settled on-the-spot during the adalat.

Breast cancer

screening camp

The Inner Wheel Club of Waltair will hold a medical camp on March 15 at 9 a.m. at Kanaka Mahalakshmi Nursing Home, Dandu Bazar, Maharanipeta (Ph: 2565676). Breast cancer screening and thyroid tests will be conducted free of cost for women aged above 35 years. The VUDA Chairman, S.A. communication

The significance of communication facilities in the country's development process was underscored at a seminar on `electronics and advanced telecommunications' at the Electronics and Communication Engineering Department, Andhra University, on Sunday. The Vice-Chancellor, Y.C. Simhadri, said that the university had launched B.E. and M.E. programmes in the distance education mode this year. He presented the national IETE golden jubilee special award to the Director of Naval Science and Technological Laboratory (NSTL), S. Mohapatra. The principal of A.U. College of Engineering, D.Ganapathi Rao, presided.
