HYDERABAD, MARCH 14. The former Nizamabad MP, Gaddam Ganga Reddy, has resigned from the primary membership of the Telugu Desam Party and has announced his decision to join the Telangana Rashtra Samithi. A member of the dissolved Lok Sabha, Mr. Reddy is set to formally join the TRS on Wednesday. He faxed his resignation letter to the TDP president, N. Chandrababu Naidu, on Sunday evening. Sources said Mr. Reddy was keen on contesting the Assembly elections from the Dichpalli segment in Nizamabad represented by the Primary Education Minister, Mandava Venkateswara Rao. But, the party reportedly did not concede the demand. However, in his letter to Mr. Naidu, the former MP said he was resigning as he felt that justice would not be done to Telangana region under the TDP's dispensation. The Government was "indifferent'' to the region in allocation of funds and taking up developmental activities. He also said his representations to Mr. Naidu in this regard went unheeded. In a scathing attack against the Minister, Mr. Reddy said he was "indifferent'' to improvement of irrigation sources in the district as Irrigation Minister. The foundation-stones for the Gutpha, Alisagar and Maggidi lift-irrigation schemes to irrigate the ayacut of the Nizamsagar project was laid five years ago but no headway was made in grounding them.
