HYDERABAD, MARCH 15. Gaddam Ganga Reddy, the former MP, who resigned from the Telugu Desam, proposes to contest against the Primary Education Minister and TDP candidate, Mandava Venkateswara Rao, from the Dichpally Assembly segment in Nizamabad district on Telangana Rashtra Samithi ticket. At a news conference here on Monday, Mr. Reddy said he was hopeful of getting TRS ticket and emerging victorious. He said he had decided to join the TRS based on a "firm assurance'' from the party president, K. Chandrasekhar Rao, that he would get the Dichpally ticket to contest against Mr. Rao. The former MP said his representation to the Chief Minister, N. Chandrababu Naidu, to field him as TDP candidate from Dichpally was not honoured and this had forced him to leave the party. The party expressed helplessness to replace Mr. Rao. Mr. Reddy accused the Minister of neglecting the Dichpally segment which he claimed did not get even one lift-irrigation scheme in the last two decades despite the area being at a higher gradient from the Godavari. Mr. Reddy belongs to Keshpally village which formed part of Dichpally segment. The constituency was totally neglected on the irrigation front though Mr. Rao served as the Irrigation Minister, he added. The former MP dwelt at length his achievements since joining politics in 1991. It was his public service which stood him in good stead, enabling him win the Lok Sabha elections thrice. He was instrumental in the execution of new railway lines between Bichkunda and Warni and Bichkunda and Dharpalli. He was behind the establishment of a Provindent Fund office for beedi workers and an ESI Hospital in Nizamabad.
