MARGAO, MARCH 15. I M Vijayan's 64th minute goal helped JCT Mills, Phagwara get better of Vasco Sport Club, Goa in its 15th round match of the National Football League at the Nehru Stadium, Fatorda, here on Monday. With this win, JCT jumped two places up and is at the fourth place with 25 points, while Vasco remained on the ninth position on 17 points. JCT could have romped home by a much bigger margin had it utilised many good chances that came its way. The complexion of the game totally changed in the second half, when I M Vijayan came in the place of Ram Pal. Vijayan, after snatching the ball from rival defender Selwyn Fernandes, unleashed a 30-yard shot which entered into the net with Vasco goalkeeper Rogario Remos out of his position. JCT got a chance to increase its lead in the 84th minute. However, Manjit Singh's shot went wide. Vasco missed a chance to level the score three minutes from time. But Levy Coleho's try was cleared by JCT defenders. The only good move during the first half came from Vasco side. Dennis Cabral initiated a move and gave it to Amachi Tochukwa, who in quick succession passed to Marcos Pereira. But his powerful shot hit the upright much to the disappointment of the home side.
